Miniseries Based On Iconic Label Uptown Records Is Headed To BET

A miniseries based on the iconic hip hop label, Uptown Records which was founded by music mogul Andre Harrell has officially received the green light and is headed to BET Networks. He took to social media to share the exciting news.
The music industry veteran posted a photo on his Instagram page with the caption, “Let’s go”. Andre received so many well wishes and this is huge for the hip hop and R&B world. Producer Jesse Collins who is has worked behind the scenes of BET’s hit biopics, “The New Edition Story” and “The Bobby Brown Story”, left this comment under his post. “Yesssssiirrrrr!”. Former Real Housewives Of Atlanta castmate also commented on the post. “@andreharrell BRO, I told you, it’s a movie, you are Legendary, now everybody is going to know”. Music producer Dallas Austin left this comment under his post. “Yeaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how can I be down??” Hip hop legend DJ Spinderella also left this comment on his post. “Uptown Uptown”.
The congratulations did not end there. Many members of the music/entertainment industry as well as friends of the music mogul icon left well wishes. Legendary music producer Jermaine Dupri left this comment under the post. “Congratulations!!”. Hip hop icon Rev Run also commented on his post. “Letsssssss go!!!!! Boom”. Model and Real Housewives Of Atlanta cast member Eva Marcille left a comment under the post. “So happy for you well deserved”. Finally, super producer and songwriter Bryan Michael Cox commented on his post. “Get em Dre!!!!!!”.
Uptown Records which was founded in the late 1980s by the music industry veteran, is the label that not only shaped, but helped promote the careers of some of Music greatest acts such as Heavy D & the Boyz, Teddy Riley, Al B. Sure, Mary J. Blige,Jodeci, The Notorious B.I.G. and more. It was also the label where CEO/Rapper and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs started out as an intern and famously working his way up before starting Bad Boy Records.
The scripted, three-part series will be executive produced by Andre for the BET network. BET president Scott Mills stated the following, “We are proud to bring the story of Uptown Records to life and celebrate the indelible imprint the label has made on the industry, transforming the sound, face and business of hip-hop and R&B”. He continued,
“We look forward to partnering with music industry titan Andre Harrell and powerhouse producer Jesse Collins on the Uptown miniseries, bringing viewers premium content that reflects and celebrates Black excellence.”
Andre who is definitely excited and thrilled to bring his story to life said the following in a statement. “I am thrilled to partner with BET Networks and Jesse Collins Entertainment to share my story, the rise of Uptown Records and successful black entrepreneurship, and the management and cultivation of some of the most iconic artists to come out of the late '80s and '90s hip-hop, R&B and soul music era”.
Jesse who is partnering with Andre on the upcoming miniseries stated the following: “Andre Harrell is a true visionary and culture creator. It is such an honor to tell the story of a label and an icon that not only gave us such great music, but was the blueprint for black excellence through entertainment”.
Andre is definitely a legend and a music mogul icon for sure. He is contributed to so much to the music and entertainment industry. So excited for the upcoming miniseries coming to BET in 2020. Congratulations again Mr. Harrell. Very well deserved.
